These lovely water lilies really open up and seem to bloom in water! This is by far one of our favorite homeschool lessons.
Making the lilies was simple. Using the book All Year Round for inspiration, I cut out the leaf and water lily shapes. Without telling the kids what we were doing, I gave them each a flower and we colored them with crayons. I told them to color the flower anyway they liked, but to leave the back blank.

After an amazing trip to Baja Mexico, we stopped to eat and play in San Diego.
The weather and water felt so good. We did not want to leave!
Our friends came to visit for two weeks! So of course we had to take them to see Zion. I love homeschooling for a million reasons, being able to travel at will is one of them!
We had a lovely little adventure outside of Las Vegas looking for wild horses. Im not sure how wild they really are, one tried to come home with us!

And we are just in time to enjoy this lovely little bungalow in Napa -a very generous gift from my parents! we are so happy to have such an amazing place to relax for a week!

Eating on the road can be challenging too, as a gluten-free family. It was nice to find this Gluten-Free Cafe in Baton Rouge
After much backroads driving, we finally found one! It’s a little hard to see, but that there be a real Louisiana gator.
We loved Mississippi, really. We found a cute little artsy beach town. This post could also be called, “what camping in a Prius in the hot south really looks like! We found a really lovely little rest area, but boy is it hot!

We are roughing it in style. Sleeping in a Prius in a Walmart parking lot really isn’t bad when you can roll out of bed and find this!
Its official, we made it coast to coast 🙂 and oh how I love a warm ocean!
So Happy to be back in North Carolina! So many wonderful adventures with wonderful friends 🙂 What a happy vacation. It makes all this sleeping in the car worthwhile… Especially when we get to couch serf from time to time.

Yellowstone was perfect. Then we got stuck in traffic as a rodeo ended in Wyoming. Now we are at a res stop with a playground. I am loving this country.
Well, we did it! So far so good. One of the benefits of not over planning a road trip is the freedom to follow any old road sign that catches your fancy… This one lead us into a very awesome cavern 🙂
Little rest stop along the way
If you are looking for us we are traveling the world in our new motorhome. It sleeps 4 and gets over 40 miles to the gallon. The trade off is the that it’s a wee bit cramped!
